Holland - the New Proving Ground?

In the last decade, Canadian soccer fans looking for updates on players abroad were used to scanning British news outlets for stories on Canucks playing in Scotland and the English lower leagues. The focus has been shifting to Germany and Holland over recent years, however, with a host of young Canadians getting a chance particularly in the low countries. From high-profile cases like Jonathan de Guzman (who has subsequently opted to play for Holland) at Feyenoord to an unlikely trio of Canadians at Groningen, there's a growing Canadian presence in the Dutch leagues.
