There have been several Canadians moving on in the last couple of weeks as both MLS and Scandinavian teams geared up for their respective new seasons. Here is a sample of those most recently changing clubs.
The Master List of players abroad has also been updated.
Chris Pozniak, San Jose Earthquakes to Chivas USA (MLS)
As was posted recently, the versatile midfielder-defender has found himself at Chivas USA without ever playing for San Jose and is now a starter in a title contender. Toronto must seem a long time ago for Poz who looks to be a good fit for the long term absenteee, Alex Zotinca.
Matthew Britner, New England Revolution (MLS) - Draft Pick
Well, Steve Nicol finally inked the only Canadian taken in the 2008 MLS SuperDraft and the defender is on a Developmental deal in Boston. The former Canadian U20 is versatile to play anywhere along the back but is primarily a DC.
Stephen Ademolu, Løv-Ham (Norwegian Adeccoliga) - Free Agent (last of Trømso)
The pacey forward, who would have seemed to be an ideal target for Toronto FC, moves within Norway but drops a division to Løv-Ham. He must just love the cold out there! Løv-Ham are a small club in Bergen and hopefully Ademolu can use it as a stepping stone to bigger things.
Gordon Chin, Yantai Yiteng (China) - Free Agent (last of Charleston Battery, USL D1)
Chin leaves the familiar confines of North America and joins Rumba Munthali and Sean Fraser in the Chinese 2nd Division. Given his heritage, and apparent command of the language, this is a move that makes some sense. A fullback normally, he has been playing a more attacking midfield/wing position since arriving in China. Chin has played for four teams in the USLD-1/A=League as well as a brief stint in England at Halifax Town in 2005. A former U20 international, it will be interesting to see what this move can provide him in the long term as at 25, he is at a pivital point in his career.
